About Me

I'm Jaclyn! I am a 30 year old mother to 2 beautiful kiddos, my son Nathan age 6 and my baby girl Addison 9 months. I began my health and fitness journey on April 22, 2013 when I joined the Slim for Summer Challenge, which changed my life in so many ways. Earlier that year there was a photo taken of me at a birthday party and I couldn't believe it was me. I had no energy, my clothes were tight and I just didn't feel good about myself. I knew I wanted to get in better shape for myself and for my family but I had no idea where to start. I was a busy mom with a full time job outside the home and going to the gym was just not an option. I had purchased at home workout programs before and I had quit them all after only a few days.

Our little family, just after my husband returned from his last deployment.

For as long as I can remember I have been obsessed with my weight. I had tried every fad diet you could think of, weight loss pills, or eating a restrictive 1200 calorie which consisted of M&Ms and macaroni and cheese. I wanted to take the easy route to get to the weight I wanted and I was doing all of the wrong things.

I had been watching an old friend from middle school on Facebook and she was in the best shape of her life. She had asked me twice if I was interested in a group but at the time I insisted I could do it on my own. After watching her for over a year having incredible results I messaged her and told her I was ready to give a challenge group a shot. I signed up for a free beachbody account and assigned her as my coach, took before pictures and my measurements and began the challenge. I dusted off the program I had previously purchased, Chalean Extreme, and decided that would be my program of choice. When I took my before photos in my bathing suit, I was flat out disgusted. I had reached my heaviest weight of 138. I decided right then and there that I was going to commit to this and make a change to my life.

At the time I did this silently because I was embarrassed. I didn't tell my family right away for fear they would judge me, or deter me from my goals. I am an emotional eater and when I was around family I was most comfortable which made for poor eating choices. After about 2 weeks I shared what I was doing with my [now] husband, Joe. I explained to him that it was important to me, and he agreed to support me. Then I slowly began to share with other members of my family. This meant in order to stay on track I had to eat at home and we had more date nights in. I squeezed in my workouts when I could, just before my son woke up and before my work day started. After a few weeks I started to notice the changes in my body, and I  was getting stronger! I still did the modified versions of some of the workouts but I was making progress.

Now almost 2 years later I feel fantastic and the only regret I have is not beginning my healthy lifestyle sooner. Shortly after my own transformation I decided to become a Beachbody Coach so that I could help others the same way this process has helped me. When someone chooses ME to guide them, provide nutritional / fitness support, and motivation to improve their way of life, I feel so honored. Being a small part of someone reaching their goals and gaining their confidence back is an AMAZING thing!

I consider myself a work in progress. There are days I don't feel like dragging myself out of bed to workout or when I REALLY would rather throw my waistline to the wind and eat a whole pizza while watching t.v. on the couch ---> I'm half kidding ;) but now I know that taking care of myself is important for me as well as for my family. So that's what I do. I get up, I exercise, I eat well and I take care of myself. You only have one body and you better treat it right. <3
